- 00:02
- So, just who is Jesus? Well, the popular teachers in the
- 00:07
- American Evangelical Women's Ministries of today want to encourage you with what
- 00:12
- God has to say about you. But what God says about us will not cause us to trust
- 00:18
- Christ. It will, however, cause us to trust ourselves. Who these women preach will be who we put our faith in, our trust in, and our love in.
- 00:29
- Words that God has to say about us may assure us of his love, but even that assurance can be made stronger the more we know
- 00:39
- Jesus. So here's an analogy that I think will help. I've used this analogy before with friends and family, and the analogy goes like this.
- 00:49
- Say you like to write, but never thought you were one to become an author. A stranger gets a hold of your writings and tells you that you should produce a book.
- 00:57
- You take the compliment, but move on. As time goes on, you become friends with this stranger, and the stranger, you find out, they love to read.
- 01:07
- You find out later that they write. Then you find out more that they are an author as well.
- 01:13
- And even more, that they are a best -selling author. Well, time goes on, and you come to learn later that they have been a best -selling author for months and multiple books at that.
- 01:24
- Then, over time, you find out they own and operate a publishing company. And knowledge grows, etc.
- 01:31
- etc. So, in the beginning, based on your knowledge of that stranger, you merely see their suggestion as a compliment.
- 01:39
- There's no trust there. But as your knowledge of that stranger grows, from acquaintance to friend, your trust grows.
- 01:47
- The more information you gather about this person, the more your faith grows in what they say in regards to you and your writing ability.
- 01:55
- The more you find out about their knowledge and authority on the issue, the more you're likely to take their advice and become an author, trusting in their word.
- 02:04
- Now, this is how our faith is built. It's built on the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the person of Jesus Christ.
- 02:12
- The more we come to know him, the more we trust what he says and what he has done and will do. And then, the more we will act in faith, producing the good works his word tells us to do.
- 02:23
- For us women, knowing Jesus, trusting in him, and walking in his word affects our homes.
- 02:30
- And all of it starts with the gospel, with our salvation. If we are not clear on the gospel, the good news that Christ has paid the penalty for our sins,
- 02:39
- Luke 24, 46 -47, that he gives us his righteousness, 2 Corinthians 5, 21, and makes us heirs with Christ, Galatians 3, 29, all this received by faith, then what we do in our homes apart from this gospel, apart from faith, is vanity.
