- Do you know what it's going to cost me to never be asked back again to something like this, to be unpopular?
- 00:06
- And so now the idea of the two of us, yeah, being involved in that way, yeah,
- 00:14
- I think somewhere there are people, you know, in little situation rooms, trying to figure out what to do.
- 00:24
- There's a particular kind of Christian that are especially hated, even within the
- 00:29
- Christian world. Who are these Christians and why are they so disliked by so many?
- 00:35
- Let's take a look at six of these Christians progressing to the most unpopular Christian at the end.
- 00:45
- Buck is the pastor of First Baptist Church of Lindale and he was recently the target of elites within the
- 00:51
- SBC. Buck's wife, Jennifer, recently wrote an article for G3 about the struggles they experienced during the early years of their marriage.
- 01:01
- Jennifer's draft article, which she had only shared with Karen Swallow prior, was somehow leaked and then weaponized against Tom Buck.
- 01:10
- FBC Lindale issued a statement in response to someone, or some people, from the
- 01:15
- SBC attempting to discredit him. Now why would elites in the SBC want to target
- 01:21
- Buck? Well, Buck stood strongly against the resolution concerning critical race theory that was passed at a recent
- 01:29
- SBC convention. Tom Buck, First Baptist Church, Lindale, Texas, preached it to the committee on this. It's a difficult topic and the reason, since it is a difficult topic, that there's a couple of areas that I'm greatly concerned about.
- 01:40
- The third where as reads, critical race theory and intersectionality have been appropriated by individuals with worldviews that are contrary to the
- 01:47
- Christian faith. The truth is they weren't merely appropriated but originated with those who would hold unbiblical worldviews.
- 01:53
- It's fundamentally flawed, that worldview. And Buck also supports Tom Ascol, who has been nominated for SBC president.
- 02:01
- Which brings us to... Tom Ascol is the senior pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Cape Coral, Florida, and the president of Founders Ministries.
- 02:15
- Ascol has been nominated for the office of SBC president. I'm honored to accept the nomination.
- 02:21
- And many elites within the SBC are doing everything they can to prevent Ascol from being elected to that position, including targeting supporters like Tom Buck.
- 02:31
- Why is Ascol so unpopular, even within Christian circles? Well, like Buck, Ascol strongly opposed the resolution concerning critical race theory at a recent
- 02:41
- SBC convention. But for the sake of our witness, I want to add strength to this resolution, make it clearer and more explicitly theological by offering what
- 02:51
- I hope will be taken as a friendly amendment. So after the first whereas, I would like to offer whereas critical race theory and intersectionality are godless ideologies that are indebted to radical feminism and post -modernism and neo -Marxism.
- 03:11
- And then add two resolves after the first resolved, resolved that we remind
- 03:17
- Southern Baptists that critical race theory and intersectionality emerged from a secular worldview and are rooted in ideologies that are incompatible with Christianity.
- 03:29
- And be it further resolved that we repudiate all forms of identity politics and any ideology that establishes human identity in anything other than the divine creation in the image of God and for all redeemed humanity, our common identity, together eternally united to Christ.
- 03:54
- Ascol is also seen as a far -right Christian because he holds firmly to the biblical doctrine that God created man and women to have different roles within the church and family, as well as many other traditional conservative biblical doctrines.
- 04:08
- Well, to that point, I wonder, Pastor Ascol, if I could just ask you what you see the harm potentially as being if women are allowed to preach?
- 04:16
- I mean, what's the worst that could happen? Yeah, well, it is a question of authority and the authority is
- 04:22
- God's Word. God has spoken. So it all boils down to, does God have an opinion about who should be the pastors, who should be the preachers in his church?
- 04:31
- He does. He's spoken. He's spoken clearly. It's not unclear. It's just unpopular.
- 04:41
- Paul Washer is the founder of Heart Cry Missionary Society and is an evangelist and preacher.
- 04:48
- In 2002, Washer preached a message at a youth conference that went somewhat viral and it's now known as the
- 04:55
- Shocking Youth Message. And so many people are deceived and so many youth are deceived and so many adults are deceived into believing that because they prayed a prayer one time in their life, they're going to heaven.
- 05:12
- Holiness and a desire not to be like Britney Spears, not to be like the world and not to be like the great majority of American Christians, but to be like Jesus Christ.
- 05:28
- I don't know why you're clapping. I'm talking about you. Washer knows that preaching messages like this one will ostracize him from a large number of Christians because it's extremely unpopular to question the salvation of professing
- 05:42
- Christians. Do you know what it's going to cost me to never be asked back again to something like this?
- 05:47
- To be unpopular? In a world where mega church pastors like Joel Osteen and Stephen Furtick make salvation as simple as saying a simple prayer.
- 05:56
- If you prayed that simple prayer, we believe you got born again. At our church, we have people repeat a prayer.
- 06:02
- It's just a means of allowing them to express their heart to God so that they can have a moment that they look back on and say,
- 06:07
- I placed my trust in Christ. And treat essentially everyone who comes to their churches as Christians who are saved.
- 06:15
- Washer's biblical message of repentance and regeneration is seen as unloving, even hateful.
- 06:21
- If you like this video and subscribe, help spread the truth. Jeff Durbin is a pastor at Apologia Church, and he is one of the founders of End Abortion Now.
- 06:36
- Durbin's fight to abolish this evil of the modern feminist movement is extremely unpopular, even within Christian pro -life circles, because he believes it is murder to end the life of pre -born babies and that the law should treat this act as murder.
- 06:52
- Speaking on behalf of over 60 million pre -born human beings murdered since the tyranny of Roe and the thousands killed daily, upwards of 3 ,000 killed per day in this nation.
- 07:04
- Durbin is on the front lines of saving pre -born babies through speaking truth to people who support this evil.
- 07:11
- In addition, Durbin regularly evangelizes to all kinds of people in the streets, such as Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, and more.
- 07:18
- People like Durbin, who are unafraid to speak truth in public places, are seen as unloving and hateful, even though nothing could be further from the truth.
- 07:27
- But I care about you as a person. I'm not here to try to, I don't want to just destroy you in an argument.
- 07:33
- I care about you as a person, and I want to, to Christ, to the truth.
- 07:41
- I don't want to hurt you. I don't want to simply, again, win an argument with you. Votie Bauckham is currently
- 07:52
- Dean of Theology at African Christian University. Bauckham has been nominated to be president of the
- 07:57
- SBC's Pastors Conference, and, like with Asco, many elites within the
- 08:03
- SBC are doing everything they can to stop Bauckham from winning the election. And so now the idea of the two of us, yeah, being involved in that way, yeah,
- 08:15
- I think somewhere there are people, you know, in little situation rooms trying to figure out what to do.
- 08:24
- Why is Bauckham so unpopular, even within a Christian organization like the SBC? Well, Bauckham actually used to be a rising star within the
- 08:33
- SBC. In his best -selling book, Fault Lines, Bauckham writes, Patterson was president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary while I was studying for my doctorate there.
- 08:44
- I never had a class with him, but he took notice of me and other black doctoral students. In fact, he took specific steps to invest in me.
- 08:53
- He made it clear that he wanted to see me become not just a professor at an SBC seminary, but president of one of them, or even the first black president of the convention.
- 09:04
- However, after Bauckham came out as both a proponent of homeschooling... It is he who controls the schools, controls the world, a fact that unfortunately gets by many of us in the
- 09:15
- Christian community. ...and is a Calvinist. Here's the glorious grace of God in predestination. God says,
- 09:21
- I'm not, I'm not, I'm not going to allow them all to go. I'm going to save some. Why? Just to show off my grace.
- 09:29
- The elites within the SBC no longer supported Bauckham. And of course, Bauckham's opposition to CRT and women pastors are unpopular positions to hold.
- 09:39
- And I think for many Christians, that's true when it comes to the idea of social justice.
- 09:45
- We keep on using that word, but I don't think it means what we think it means.
- 09:51
- And most people who use it, they mean well. The other thing is, well, what if a person feels like they have gifts to do that?
- 09:59
- No one gets to do everything they feel like they're gifted at. No one does. What if a man who has several wives feels like he's gifted to be a pastor?
- 10:08
- The Bible says he must be the husband of one wife, right? What makes Bauckham even more unpopular is that he is a black man who holds these positions, which means that many see him as being a traitor to his own race.
- 10:20
- As you were saying that, here's what I was thinking. And as you were saying, you know, I trust you and you, you know, you want to hear from me.
- 10:28
- I could hear people out there who are doing two things simultaneously.
- 10:34
- When I say people out there, I mean, people who would be advocates of this, right? We need dialogue and we need to hear one another's stories, right?
- 10:44
- You need to hear black people's stories. On the one hand, they're hearing you say that and they're going, yes, you need to hear black people's stories.
- 10:52
- And then you're pointing to me and you're saying, okay, I want to hear it. And some of those same people would be going, no, no, no, not his because I don't qualify because I don't have the right worldview.
- 11:11
- John MacArthur is the pastor of Grace Community Church, a very large church. But what makes
- 11:17
- MacArthur different from most other mega churches is that he refuses to compromise concerning biblical truth.
- 11:24
- MacArthur openly teaches Calvinism. And those who believe are those who were given life and regeneration by the
- 11:31
- Holy Spirit because they were chosen before the foundation of the world. Male headship within the church and family.
- 11:38
- Does scripture allow for women eldership? This seems to be the direction of some churches today.
- 11:44
- Absolutely and unequivocally not. MacArthur openly opposes CRT. Critical race theory, white privilege, systemic racism, unconscious bias, all of these things basically have a ground level ideology.
- 12:02
- Okay, and here it is. It's anti -God and it's anti -creation. MacArthur was the center of public scrutiny when he stood firm in saying that the government could not prohibit
- 12:11
- Christians from gathering together to worship. Zoom church is not church. It's not church.
- 12:17
- It's watching TV. There's nothing there's nothing about that that fulfills the biblical definition.
- 12:25
- And MacArthur spearheaded a protest against Canada's law that attempted to censor pastors from speaking about the topic of homosexuality.
- 12:39
- Because of all of this, MacArthur is a favorite target of both non -Christians and Christians. Recently, Julie Roys, who was opposed to MacArthur's ministry, accused
- 12:49
- MacArthur of covering up abuse. Grace Community Church responded to, and on Twitter, a clip of an old
- 12:56
- MacArthur sermon was taken out of context in another effort to discredit MacArthur. We are not saying
- 13:02
- MacArthur is perfect in everything he does. We disagree with significant parts of MacArthur's theology.
- 13:09
- What we are saying is that MacArthur's fearlessness in proclaiming what he believes the
- 13:15
- Bible teaches, along with his large platform, makes MacArthur one of the most hated and targeted
