ThornCrown Covenant Baptist Church

About

ThornCrown Covenant Baptist Church is a free, Reformed Baptist church where the Word of God alone reigns—the Word of God for all our faith and life. While we hold adamantly to the doctrine of sola Scriptura—that sacred Scripture is the sole sufficient, certain, infallible, inerrant and supreme rule for all matters of faith and life—as a Reformed Baptist church we also regard the faithful historic creeds of the Christian church, as well as the Reformation confessions and catechisms, particularly the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith and the 1693 Baptist Catechism, as sound comprehensions of what Scripture teaches, and as secondary standards subordinate to and derived from Scripture. The elders of ThornCrown Covenant Baptist Church use them as standards of sound words (2 Tim. 1:13, Rom. 6:17) to preach, teach, confess, catechize, and edify God’s people with the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27) and the Law & Gospel Distinction, that all may accord with one mind and purpose, “endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Phil. 2:2, Eph. 4:3). The name “ThornCrown Covenant” refers to the Covenant of Redemption, in which the triune God counseled from “eternity past” an eternal plan of redemption for His people, the universal, invisible church, the Bride of Christ. The Father in love elects them and gives them to the Son; the Son "became flesh and dwelt among us" to earn perfect righteousness and satisfy divine justice on their behalf by His righteous life and vicarious death; and the Spirit regenerates, sanctifies, guides, convicts, and applies the redemption to them that God purchased with His own blood. We strive to be Biblical, reformed, historic, confessional, loving, prayerful, discerning Christians who evangelize, stand firm in, and earnestly contend for, the Christian faith and the Gospel—the power of God unto salvation from sin and wrath by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone, based on the ultimate authority of Scripture alone—as we look for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ through the grace of the Lord Jesus, the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
