Daily Bites Of God's Word - Part 13 - Psalm 119:13

Hello and welcome back to Daily Bites God's Word. This is Andy Cain, and today we are looking at verse 12 of Psalm 119.

It says, Blessed are you, O Yahweh, or blessed are you, O Lord.

Teach me your statutes. Teach me your statutes. And there's a cross -reference here for verse 26,

I have recited my ways and you have answered me, and it repeats the line, teach me your statutes. We have a unique position in that as children of God, as those that have been saved by Jesus Christ, we have direct access to God.

We are justified by the Father through the power and the blood, shed blood of Jesus Christ.

So we have his word and we have a God that has revealed himself to us.

We have a God that has revealed his law to us. We don't have a God that is completely unknowable.

Now, he is infinitely beyond our ways. He's unknowable in a sense, but he's also knowable in a sense in that he has chosen to reveal himself to us in certain ways.

And one of the ways he has done so is through his statutes, through his law, through what he expects. And so as the children of God, we want to learn his ways.

We want to learn the ways of God. We want to learn his law. We want to learn his precepts.

We want to learn his statutes, and we want to make sure we're obedient. And so the truly, and this is interesting because, you know, in the first verses of this, as we've been moving through this psalm, we talked about the blessed person being the one who walks in the law of the

Lord. Well, here the psalmist says that it is blessed are you, O Lord, because what the

Christian really recognizes is that the only true good person, the only true good being in this universe is

God almighty. The only one that is truly blessed in and of himself without any need to become blessed or become righteous is

God himself. And so blessed are you, O Lord. Now teach me your statutes.

Teach me how I should live. Teach me how I can be pleasing to you.

Is that your prayer today? I pray that it is. I pray that you are in the word of God, that you are studying it and applying it to your life.
