- Hello there and welcome back to Daily Bites of God's Word. This is Andy Cain. It's a joy to be back with you once again. Today we're looking at Psalm 119 verse 29.
- 00:20
- It says, remove the false way from me and graciously grant me your law.
- 00:26
- This is the primary thing that the
- 00:32
- Christian wants to see. One of God's people is always going to want to see themselves growing in the grace of God, growing to a maturity and a deeper understanding of Christ and His Word.
- 00:46
- And the task or the process of growing in Christ involves a two -fold situation.
- 00:56
- There is the removal of false ways, of sinful ways, and a reduction of sinfulness in the life of the believer.
- 01:05
- And no one will be sinlessly perfect in this life as we remain in sinful flesh, but you should be sinning less and less.
- 01:16
- So that's the first part, removing the false way from me. The second part of it in our sanctification is the growth, the increase in holiness.
- 01:29
- So when he says graciously grant me your law, he wants to see not only the, it's not just about the possession or obtaining the law of God, but digesting it.
- 01:42
- So the context is removing the false way. So he wants to see the law of God be replaced or be the thing that replaces the false way.
- 01:53
- And so the psalmist here wants to remove falsity, remove sin, and have the law of God be the thing that is granted in its place.
- 02:01
- He wants to grow in righteousness. He wants to grow in holiness. He wants to grow in his capacity to sin less and less.
- 02:11
- And that should be our goal every day to sin less and less and to increase in righteousness and holiness and our ability to imitate
- 02:23
- Christ and to live the Christian life through the power of God, by the grace of God, by his mercy, because everything that we have and everything that we are is by the grace of God.
