The reason why I put verses 26 through 40 in it I feel like if I just continue to break down verse by verse a lot of this is

Our theme for this Lord's Day is well The theme is actually the overarching thing for the whole chapter, excuse me

But the proposition I think for this Lord's Day is the reality of false Disciples, and this is part three of that But this is part one.

We're going to see the first tier of God's will for your life in our outline

Now Let's remember who this group of Jews that Jesus is talking to Jesus is

Speaking to this group of Jews This is the same group that Jesus same group of Jews that when

Jesus Took the little boy sack lunch and he fed twenty to twenty five thousand people

This is the same group that saw with their eyes What Jesus did and also partook by eating

Jesus had Basically made his disciples get into a boat

And he made this group of Jews after they ate to leave because they wanted that they recognized

That he was the prophet like Moses. They wanted to take him by force and make him king Jesus did not come to be an earthly king did not come for earthly crown

Jesus came for kingdom intrusion Remember go back two or three weeks ago kingdom intrusions

So in the context before we get into our point verse 25 Says and when they found him on the other side of the sea they said to him rabbi

When did you come here? So after he made everyone disperse?

He saw his disciples in trouble on the sea Jesus walks on the sea to their rescue and they

Because he enters the boat the storm stops they go to the land This group of Jews wake up realize that their meal ticket was gone.

And so they went looking for him They find him at Capernaum Verse 25 rabbi, when did you get here?

Jesus picks up in verse 26? This is his answer leaves us to our first point the work which they

Performed we're going to read verses 26 and 27 Jesus answered them and said

Truly truly I say to you speaking to this group of Jews Who saw and partook in the bread event you seek me not because you saw the sign

Remember they saw it Because you ate of the loaves and were filled they partook

Listen to Jesus when Moses Pronounces the prophet. He said when he comes listen to him

Jesus wasn't there their bellies were Rattling they wanted food. So they go and they follow after Jesus this speaking about the natural

You have a plate of food in front of you whether you consume it or it goes bad

Bread and I would add also any kind of food Perishes it goes bad.

It gets to the point where you cannot eat of it by inference

My inference we can conclude that Jesus is telling them to work listen to work

For the bread that does not perish look at verse 27 do not work for food which perishes

But for food which endures to eternal life, he's not saying don't work

He said but work for the food which endures to eternal life Which the

Son of Man listen will give to you It's a gift But work for the food which endures to eternal life

Which the Son of Man will give to you For on him the Father God has set his

Seals and we'll get more into that in a moment Point number two the work which they want to perform verse 28

Therefore they said to him. What should we do? So that we may work the works of God Question is is what are the works of God that they want to perform?

It's the work that they saw in part two here They want to know what can they do to be able to take a sack lunch multiply it in order to feed everybody

They're wanting to know what can they do to heal the sick? What can they do to give sight to the blind?

More importantly, what can they do to fill their bellies? What can they do to have this gift that Jesus has in order to?

Perform this work. It sounds like Simon Magus in the book of Acts whenever he sees a

Paul lay his hand on someone and give them the Holy Spirit. He's like can

I buy that for me? Can I buy that gift for me? They're wanting to know what can they do in order to do these things?

They were asking Jesus. What can we do to multiply bread? They did not want to work by the sweat of their face for bread

They weren't following Jesus for the sake of Jesus we pointed this out last week

They were following Jesus because the aid of the loaves and were filled. That's what Jesus is but He says truly truly

I say to you you seek me not because you saw the sign but because you ate of the loaves and were filled

This is what's called a false Disciple someone who has fallen after Jesus to get something

Hell well prosperity. Are you coming to Jesus because you're sick and you need help?

False disciple you come into the Jews because you wanted to get rich false disciple

You want prosperity's false? disciple Any of those reasons you are a false disciple.

You're not coming to Jesus for the right reason You follow Jesus for the sake of Jesus or you don't follow

Jesus at all If they can figure out how to multiply the bread

That would in turn be less work for them to do because they would no longer have to follow Jesus They wouldn't have to follow around their fish the bread and fish dispenser

Because they could do it themselves There's no need to follow them if I could do it Right, if someone had the power to bring health wealth and prosperity at the snap of a finger

What's the point of following Jesus? People Give a false conclusion of what it is to follow

Jesus TBN has brought more atheists in our nation than secular colleges have made a

Producing false disciples point number three the work which all

Listen you included are called to perform. We'll reverse 28 again and 29 together

This is our first tier of God's will for your life to believe in Jesus Christ The work of God is to believe that Jesus is the

Christ the sons of the Living God The work of God is not for us to multiply bread

Cast out demons be baptized speak in foreign languages. The work of God is to believe in Jesus Christ Although we are to feed the hungry pray for the sick pray for those who are demon -possessed

Receive the covenant sign and reach the nations with the gospel But the work of God is to believe in Jesus whom

God the Father has sent John 3 16 for God speaking of the

Father so loved the world that he the Father gave He gave his only begotten

Greek word is pastewa Pastewa means to put trust in and commit to And churches aren't teaching that They teach belief as if it's just some kind of an intellectual head nod do you believe in Jesus It's to commit it's to put one's trust in and commit to That's what the

Questions are you doing the work of God? Are you believing in Jesus Christ is your trust in Christ?

It's to commit is to put one's trust in and commit to And So are you doing the will of God are you believing in Jesus Christ is your trust in him

Is your trust in him? I don't care if you feel it is your trust in him I don't care if you don't feel his presence on you.

There's your trust in him. Do you believe his word is your trust in Christ? And are you committed to him?

Point number four the work which God Performed We're gonna take this from verses 30 to 35 we'll begin by reading verses 30 to 31

To him this is almost laughable. Do you do for a sign? So that we may see and believe

What work did you perform? Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness as it is written.

He gave them bread from heaven to eat First thing to notice is is there wanting another sign?

That's why it's almost laughable This is the same group of Jews who saw with their eyes and partook in Consumption Jesus taking a sack lunch and feeding upwards to 20 to 25 ,000 people

Maybe it's just because I grew up where I grew up I feel like sometimes Jesus should have been physical, right?

The he here is not Moses but God God through the ministry of Moses and the old covenant fed the

Israelites in the wilderness Jesus seems to be telling them speaking to the

Jews that he's speaking to telling them that he is not from Moses Though he is the prophet like unto

Moses. He is not from Moses Moses did not send Jesus but God Sent Jesus This group of Jews wants another sign and they point back to Moses look what

That's the attitude here The question is is What was the purpose behind what took place in the world?

What is the purpose behind the bread? From heaven, which is met the manna that God I mean that was given to the

Jews in the wilderness, so The purpose behind it. There's always a purpose if you will turn to your

Exodus 16 will read verses 4 through 7 and this will give us the answer to why

What was the purpose behind God making it rain man? verse 4 then

Yahweh said to Moses behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day

That I may test them whether or not they will walk in my law

What they bring in and it will be twice as much as they gather

God gave them instructions Every day you wake up for six days

I mean for five of the days you have to go out and you have to gather enough just for today

And this was to let him know if they were going to keep this law, of course, we know God's sovereignty, right

Sabbath But it was also a sign for them to know that Yahweh had brought them out of Egypt Imagine waking up and all of a sudden as far as your eyes could see bread

What a great sight if we would have been able to be there to see that as far as I could see this But it also made it rain well

This group of Jews That Jesus is speaking with Saul and partook in the bread sign done by Jesus and they equate it to Moses They are regarding what

Jesus did to what took place in the time of Moses as equal so they're saying what what

Moses did and there won't more to the bread that came down from heaven which was the manna with the multiplying of bread from the sack lunch they're saying that these two are on equal terms

Jesus is about to make it clear that the bread which came down from heaven in the time of Moses is not listen it is not pointing to the multiplying bread from a sack lunch but it's pointing to him it's pointing to him look at verses 32 to 33 then
