Daily Bites Of God's Word - Part 10 - Psalm 119:10

This is Andy K and it's a joy to be back with you once again. Today we are looking at Psalm 119 verse 9.

Verse 9 says, how can a young man keep his way pure? Good question to ask. The answer, by keeping it according to your word.

Now it says young man here because obviously the psalmist was a male and he's writing from this sort of this first person way of saying, you know, how can

I keep, how can I keep my way pure? How can I as a young man keep my way pure?

Well this can be extended to all people. How can the young Christian girl, how can the older Christian mother or grandmother, how can any

Christian keep their way pure? The answer is the same for everybody.

By keeping it according to God's word. If you want to have success, if you want to have a righteous living, a holy life, if you want to have a pure way about you, it comes not from doing things your way.

It comes not from doing things in a sinful way. It comes from establishing yourself and patterning your life according to the word of God.

I told you at the beginning of Psalm 119 that you're going to see a lot of repetition, a lot of repeated themes.

This repeated theme of the word of God being supreme and how we need to be patterning ourselves, being after it, obeying it, and also being thankful for the word of God, being thankful for the righteousness and righteous judgments found in it.

And this is how we keep our way pure. Why would anyone want to do that? Well because the God of this universe has commanded that we are to be holy.

He has commanded that we are to be righteous. He's commanded that we are not to sin. So we are going to be judged based on whether we're righteous or not.

So we would want to keep our way pure. And the way we do that is by keeping it according to God's word.

Now only those that have been regenerated, those that have had their spirit raised to life by the spirit of God, that have repented of their sin and put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ, are made righteous in the sight of the

Father, and they can live out this verse. The unsaved cannot make their way pure.

They cannot keep a pure life because they are dead in sin and trespasses. But the one that is righteous, the one that has been saved, can ask this question and answer it all in the same way, by keeping their life, my life, your life, according to the word of God.

So if you're a child of God, if you're a Christian who's been saved by the grace and mercy of God and Jesus Christ, I compel you to live your life according to His word so you can live a pure life.
