Daily Bites Of God's Word - Part 26 - Psalm 119:26

Hello, welcome back to Daily Bites of God's Word. This is Andy Cain. It's a joy to be back with you once again. Today we're looking at Psalm 119, verse 25.

It says, My soul clings to the dust. Revive me according to your word.

There's a cross -reference here in verse 37 of the same psalm, which we will eventually get to here on Daily Bites of God's Word.

It says, Cause my eyes to turn away from looking at worthlessness. Revive me in your ways. There is a very real sense in which the

Word of God revives us, and not just revives us in the sense that is the way in which it is communicated to us that we need to be saved, we need to repent.

But the very Word of God can revive us. You know, we always pray for revival, you know, revive us again,

Lord. You know, we want to be revived, and this is how we revive, by studying the Word of God, repenting of our sin, putting our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, putting our faith in the

Word of God to teach us and guide us, and then obeying it. You are revived not just by reading it, which, reading the

Bible's great, not revived just by studying it, studying it's great, understanding it, understanding it's great.

We need to obey it, apply it. A doctor can prescribe medicine for you, he can make a prescription, written prescription of what you need to be treated and get better.

But if you don't actually go and get the medicine, pop open the cap, take the pills, and swallow them, you won't get better.

Same is true for the spiritual food of the Word of God. Jesus himself said, I'm the bread of life that's come down from heaven so that you can have life, have it abundantly.

This bread you eat of, you'll never go hungry, you'll never thirst. That's what David has in mind here.

It's a prophecy of sorts, in a way, that points to the fact that we also be revived by the very

Word that takes on flesh. And we are revived. He says, you know, our soul can cling to the dust, we can feel like we're dead inside and that we have nowhere else to go.

And the very Word of God, and you think about if you're in a pattern of sin, by repenting of it and then obeying the

Word of God, you come out of it, you become spiritually revived and ready to do what you need to do. So if you find yourself in a pattern of sin or in some place that you shouldn't be, you want revival for yourself or for your church, you find it in the
