Good morning, this is Pastor Ben from Wynton Memorial Baptist Church.
I'm the Associate pastor at Wynton Memorial Baptist Church, and this is another time out
so It's another good day to be alive in Jesus Christ.
It's gonna be a beautiful day today and Just wanted to spend some time in the
scriptures with you.
Our scripture comes from Hebrews chapter 5
verses 7 through 10.
So we're going to talk a little bit about prayer today.
So Let's read and it says in verse 7
in the days of his flesh Jesus offered up prayers and supplication.
With loud cries and tears to him who was able to save him From
death and he was heard because of his reverence.
Although he was a son.
He learned obedience through what he suffered and he was made perfect.
He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him
being designated by God a high priest after the order of
Melchizedek, so First we see this first thing it says in the days of
his flesh Jesus offered up prayers and supplications.
Now we also read in Philippians that we are to not be anxious for anything.
But with prayers and supplication.
Now, where do you think Paul got that from?
He got that from the life of Jesus.
Jesus offered up prayers and supplications with loud cries and tears.
To who to him who was able to save him from death.
Jesus knew that God was able to do things in his life.
He knew that God was able a lot of the times, you know.
We cry out to our friends or our families.
We've been to each other.
Well, that's not necessarily a bad thing but a lot of the times we simply cry out to each other and we
Complain about the things in our life when really we should be going to God and crying out to him.
Because why.
Because he's able to do something about our situation.
Sometimes we think God is the last resort.
Well, he's not the last resort.
He's our first resort.
He should be our first resort and then he says He was heard because of his
reverence a lot of the times nowadays.
We don't have a reverence for God.
We don't have a respect for God.
We don't have an all for God.
We simply a lot of the times get caught up in the things of this this world
our jobs our situations and things like that to where.
We don't simply have what's up Christian?
We don't simply have a all and a respect for God to where we come to him out of
fear and all and respect to where we lean on him and.
And so that that reflects in our life.
We we say things like on God or You know OMG
things like that when really we should view him as a person of respect and all in
honor and and that that would if we truly viewed God is an
Honorable person and a person of honor and a person of respect that would that would show in
our life.
So Then he goes on and he says although he was the son he learned obedience.
Through what he suffered he learned through suffering obedience a lot of the times when we suffer.
You know we we kind of put obedience on the backburner, you know.
We don't learn obedience through suffering.
Well, Jesus learned obedience through suffering.
He learned to be obedient Despite how bad the circumstances were.
You know and and we are not to be like that.
We are to have a good the theological understanding of suffering and In in the midst
of that be obedient.
We are to learn obedience Through suffering he was our example.
Not not only is he our example But he is our Lord.
He is the one we obey.
He is the one we seek.
He is the one we lean on and in then in verse 9.
He says this he says being made perfect.
He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey now Jesus was already perfect.
But the one thing he did lack was he didn't lack that lifetime of
experiential obedience to God.
You know.
So he wasn't in the flesh.
This was his first time in the flesh Throughout life so he he lacked that
personal You know experiential
Obedience Through living in the flesh here on earth.
So not only did he Obey that and he followed that but he exhibited that he
had he demonstrated So to speak his perfection he demonstrated the fact that he
was perfect through obedience and then.
Lastly, it's as being designed by God a high priest after the order of
Melchizedek.
So he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him.
Notice that says to all who obey him He is the Lord to those who obey
him those who obey him and make him their Lord and Savior and he became
their source of obedient source of salvation and he is
now the reigning king and mediator Being the rightful high priest
in the order of Melchizedek.
So to sum it all up God Jesus is our
example in the fact that he Offered prayers and supplications like we should and he
cried out.
He shared his Experience with God instead of running to other people.
He shared it with God alone as his friend as his
Provider as his deliverer and You know Not only
that but he learned obedience through suffering we can learn obedience through suffering as
well.
He was made perfect Through that suffering.
He demonstrated his perfection through suffering and then he
He he not only was made a priest in the order of Melchizedek
but also He He as well was the eternal
salvation to all who obey him.
Now if you don't know Christ if you never repented of your sin and place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ I
want to invite you to do that today repent surrender To Christ
forsake your sin once and for all and turn to Jesus who is the only Source
of salvation for all who obey him guys.
It's a good day to be alive in Jesus Christ.
So rejoice in the fact that God has provided a way of salvation through Jesus.
And it's a good day to be alive in Jesus no matter what you're going through no matter what you're struggling with
God is the source of all true Lasting joy
and Peace in the midst of your suffering in the midst of your struggles.
God is good.
It is a good day.
Let's rejoice and be glad in it.
Love y 'all.
