Ahead. All right. Well, I thought you were scared of the phone. No, I'm not scared of it. It's good over. She's the skinny one. There they come they're popping on oh my glasses so I can't see. Okay, oh no, that won't help me.
Oh, they're my keep your glasses Vicki. Yeah, I'm gonna see all this. I can't see far away. I can't see our glasses to protect The other people. When I'm driving You're supposed to be able to read the signs know what your exit is you're supposed to be able to tell that.
Two cars and not just one big blurry car, you know great. It's like I wear these for you people. That's right I'm here for you. You're welcome. Oh. This is what this is gonna be. I'm ready. Hi, Brittany.
I Said hello to you twice today at work, and you did not acknowledge me. So now I'm shaming you on our wife. Oh. No, wrong Brittany. I'm just like hey See that was the wrong Brittany. I was shaming Brittany home.
She's over there just dying. You're supposed to call her Brett. She's Brett. Okay, I'm sorry rewind we love you right. Hey, no need for you to be shamed. None at all. Karina's been sharing some stories With us before they started which has been fabulous because I don't think I she has really gotten to know Karina.
So it's really Karina's already been a little bit. She's already broken the water a little bit with Aisha. So she's already knows what she's in. Broken the ice. Ever. Cuz I use the wrong word water breaking that's pregnant.
Yeah. Oh Not break her water. No, no, you crack the ice. Broke the ice. Okay. Okay. You're nervous for me. Whoo, it's getting hot in here. Oh my gosh I do this every week. I've only missed a few times.
Anyways, good evening everyone and welcome to our Bible study. We're having a blast if you can't tell already, it's it's really kind of warm in here and it is a little toasty. I think it may just be a jacket.
That are warm then. Well, she's young this is true. So welcome to our Bible study tonight my wonderful and most precious Assistant is out of town celebrating her anniversary. So happy. But tonight I have as my special co-host is miss Aisha Howard which is wonderful incredible and most adorable.
But our guest tonight is the Awesome and beautiful and lovely and hilarious and smart and Loving and The wonderful miss Karina Wilson she is she is such a joy and Any of you women here at the church if you've not gotten to know miss Karina, you know when she has a moment Y 'all don't bomb rush or anything.
She's spectacular so We have asked her to be our guest. Yeah, just ask Marty or Mamo. Mamo thinks I'm spectacular. Mamo is spectacular. Mamo says I boss her around. Mamo is spectacular, but Mamo needs to be bossed around sometimes.
Yes, she does. Um, I miss Mamo so much. And I love her. Tell her I love her. Okay, I sent her a card a while back, but I need to send her another one. I'm kind of slacking on that. I've been kind of busy.
But anyway, so tonight we've asked Karina to join us and she graciously said yes. Which I was so thrilled about. I was like, oh my gosh Karina said yes. This is about as good as having Dana on. But anyway, so we've asked Karina to bring a verse that she would like to study with us and She actually read the Scripture a few minutes ago.
I think y 'all are really in for a treat tonight. So if you've got 30 minutes. Hang in there. If not, if you if because I know a lot of people are in the middle of cooking dinner. So if you're in the middle cooking dinner, you can come back to us.
We'll be here. You can always catch us when we're done. So anyways, Karina. What is this my first is probably tell you. You say your verse and then she'll read it out loud and then we'll discuss it. Oh, yeah.
We were too busy. Okay, so what was the verse that you chose for us tonight. I chose Psalms 32 3 through 5. Thank you. Which may catch you a little off-guard. So, it's fine it's good though, so I shall you read Scripture, please.
Sure Psalm 32 3 and verse 4. Oh and 5, I'm sorry. 3 4 5. When I kept silent my bones became brittle from my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand hand was heavy on me. My strength was strained as in the summer's heat then I Acknowledged my sin to you and did not conceal my inequity and they couldn't iniquities.
I said I will confess my transgressions to the Lord and you took away the guilt of my sin. Hey, that may seem a little heavy. That's that's a little. Okay, would you like to explain Karina? Says the joy of my forgiveness.
Actually This jumped out at me. It was actually part of either brother Jeff or just I don't remember which one it was a Sermon not too long ago, but it was not the main point if I remember correctly, but this jumped out to me personally because of my own experience and also because of Ministering to women and What I have noticed is that a lot of us struggle with being depressed and discouraged and all of that and sometimes as a physical problem of You know chemicals not being right or hormone problems or whatever it is, but also It can be that for whatever reason we are slow to go to the Lord when It says when I kept silent my bones became brittle from my groaning all day long when you are Struggling with sin and what I personally have noticed is that sometimes it is Sin like that you actually the Bible is clear.
This is wrong your you choose to do it anyway and you decide that You're going to waller in that sin here for a little bit and You become miserable because The Holy Spirit is convicting you of that sin and that sin is stealing from you.
You know. Like the saying goes, you know sins gonna take you further than you want to go. Keep you longer than you want to stay and cost you more than you want to pay. And that's how sin is and so why in the world do we fight the process and Not go right to God with it.
I do not know, but I know that it is true. And then the other thing is that sometimes it is not even true sin that we're we're reacting this same way because we're putting on ourselves an Expectation that God has not put on us to be a certain way or whether it is.
Because Somebody else has said well this you know, if you if you love God, then you will do this or you know. Or you're supposed to read your Bible every single day. You're supposed to you know Whatever it is where it is not something that the Bible that God in his word has put on you.
But you have put that expectation on you. So you feel like you are failing by not meeting that expectation and when you feel like you're failing. Instead of you turning and running to a loving forgiving God.
You do this you walk around and you're heavy laden and you're miserable as all get out and Your bones become brittle and you're you know, you're it's heavy the hand is heavy on you and you're measurable but then it says when I acknowledge my sin or In the other case when you acknowledge that that's not even sin, you know.
Why aren't we going to God's Word and finding out what really is sin and what isn't sin? And You know, that's why the Bible says that word has I hidden in my heart so that I will not sin against you. We need to know you know what he says and not what man says that he says.
Then it says I I Confess my transgressions to the Lord and he took away the guilt of my sin and that is available to us whether You have never done that in your life and You're lost and you not have a relationship with God and you're feeling the conviction and the burden of your sin.
You can go to him and he offers that to you. But also as Christians, I think that we oftentimes feel like when when we were saved and we repented of all of that in you know this Enormous weight was lifted off of our shoulders and we're a new creation in Christ and we're so excited about it and all of that.
In my mind, I felt like well, I'm not ever going back. You know, I'm not gonna do that. That is not a problem anymore. Because you know God gives you the Holy Spirit. He gives you a new way to look at sin.
You suddenly see it differently. You you do not see it as desirable. You know as it as it was before because you see what it did to you what it cost you. Your eyes are open. So in my mind, I felt like I'm not gonna struggle with that anymore.
Well, that's not true. No. You know for anyone that is not true but Instead of. Because when when we're saved we feel like well, we're not going to mess up then when we do we tend to be even harder on ourselves and Not run right to God and and confess that and run to him as a loving father and One thing that I noticed because you know Vicki told me I asked her do you want to know what first I'm doing?
You know and she said no Karina. You can just tell me Thursday night because we do not study it ahead of time because this is a Bible study and we're going to study it right then. And I'm just saying I don't roll like that.
A little bit and One thing that I noticed Psalm 32 is written by David and One commentary that I read said Okay in Psalm 51 Psalm 51 is the song that David wrote as After his sin with Bathsheba was brought to his mind and he was broken over his sin.
And that is the song that he wrote is Psalm 51 in that song. He makes a promise Psalm 51 13 if you want you want to read it since that's your job, okay I Will steal your job. Yeah. Psalm 51 verse 13 Then I will teach the rebellious your ways and sinners will return to you.
So David made that promise and some people say that Psalm 32 is the fulfillment of that promise. That he is teaching the rebellious God's ways so that they will return to you to him and. So when I read that, you know when you're studying the Bible You end up going a lot of rabbit trails.
Gosh yes, and so the first thing that popped into my mind when I read that if David was gone back and taken his experience of being Broken-hearted over his sin and going to God with that sin and he said I'm going to teach others I'm gonna teach the rebellious then that goes right along with how when Peter when Jesus told Peter that he was going to deny him and Peter was like No, I would never do that.
I'm ready to die right now. No. Yes. Ready I love you so much and I I would never do that right and that's what we do. Yes. But Jesus said to him. You know because he just ignored all of that yeah. You really believe that bless your little baby heart right so he said but when you turn back strengthen your brothers and That is what we're supposed to do with all of our Struggles and all the things.
So why in the world do we spend time walking around with the weight of our sin? When God is so willing to restore us to right relationship and Then to send us on our way to strengthen our brothers and sisters.
Yes. In our case really more our sisters. Yes. Because we're a sister but Peter was a brother. Yeah. But he might have strengthened the sisters. Well, we don't know. But this really isn't about that. We're making assumptions.
But the point is that Why do we do that? Why are we the reason that I came up with when I just studied this on my own I? Think a lot of it is because of our view of God's character is That we struggle with and we have an enemy a real enemy and we have all these lies that come through our head.
About what God's character is what he's what his reaction to us going to him is going to be. What he is thinking about our little loser selves that he's already told us a hundred times about this. Yeah, or whatever and my brain works in analogies and.
So one thing that popped in my head about this as I was thinking about God's character and especially today when I hear. When you just kind of listen to and you see on Facebook People's view of what they when they give their opinion of what God is like but it's not based necessarily on any biblical truth.
It's just kind of what people's overall opinion is or maybe they're basing it on like God is love. And that is biblical however, how we define love in The world how the world defines love is not Exactly the same right and so a lot of times.
To love somebody you have to agree with them and that that is not really love. But the analogy that came into my head with that is that as I was thinking about that. Is we either there's two different ways that people often view God's character.
They say he's either he's a loving God and so in their mind. They say things like well, God knows my heart. You know, yes, I realize that the Bible says and I'm not supposed to do that, but I'm going to do it anyway.
Because God knows my heart and he knows that I love him and he knows, you know, and all that. Now just stick with me on this analogy here for a minute because it is probably gonna catch your car, but it's fine it's fine God does not have bettered women's syndrome and It is almost like we think that God has bettered women's syndrome.
Because I don't know how much you know about bettered women's syndrome. But and I don't know a lot but I do know that almost every woman that I have ever heard or have ever seen anything on who has it what they typically say about their abuser is that They love me.
They don't really mean to do that they It's not all bad. There's a lot of good times and then it's you know, everything that they do is not bad it's just sometimes and sometimes that's because of things that I do and On and on that sound about right?
Yes. Well that is oftentimes how We are viewing God like we can like he has bettered women's syndrome and he can be manipulated and he He has gone to love us No matter how we treat him and there's going to be no Accountability, there's going to be you know.
You know He doesn't have bettered women's syndrome and he does not His his love for us is not a codependent Relationship where he needs our approval. No he He loves us Unconditionally that is true. But for us to be in right relationship with him and for us to Be treating him properly.
There are expectations and He is all he is loving but he is also just and When they say The other the other thing. Sometimes they seem as all loving like he has better women's syndrome or they see him as all just as a God Who is just taking pleasure and throwing people into hell.
And he is just standing up there tapping his foot looking at us waiting to smite somebody, you know and he's he's angry and. And Biblically neither one of those are accurate. Neither is accurate. Neither one of those is accurate accurate.
There is some truth. It is true that God is loving and it is true that God is just. But God's love is a sacrificial love. Paid the ultimate sacrifice for us but he also loves us enough to hold us accountable and He made a way for our sin and he is there waiting on us to confess our sin.
But he does not just say oh, it's fine. You don't have to you know, you don't have to repent. You can just say that I know your heart. What. You have such a way of explaining things. The battered women's syndrome Is spot-on spot-on.
And you're exactly right. He's not. And that really makes me feel hurt in my heart to think that I would treat God like that that I would yes. Yes, but it makes. It really puts a lot of things in perspective for me.
Okay, because really this verse is very comforting and it's very. It didn't sound like it at first. It is our choice. It is our choice. It was his choice to walk around carrying that sin. Just like Jesus said come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.
The question is are you tired yet? You know, he said take my yoke upon me and learn from me. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Well, David was worn out. Yes, cuz I'm gonna tell you in 31 10.
He says indeed my life is consumed with grief in my years with groaning my strength is failed. Because of my sinfulness and my bones waste away. Yes, have you been there? Have you ever been to that point in your life where you're holding on Completely to the sin and you're just completely broken because you are trying Your best to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and to that you're you're gonna do this and you're gonna do it on your own and It's a pride thing in a lot of ways.
You're not willing to humble yourself. You're not willing to admit that. Hey, I do not have this together. Yes, you're not willing to admit any of that and then there you are and it's miserable, but it says That.
Then he decided he would confess his sin to the Lord and the Lord Took his guilt away. The real picture of God. God is just sitting there waiting on you To quit being a stubborn little brat. Hey man, oh My gosh, can you repeat that for me, please?
Just sitting there waiting on you. We've all we have seen those children where they are miserable and You're right there and you are willing to restore them to right relationship. Yeah, you know, there's very different.
Look, we were talking about before this started about people's attitudes are different about Correction and all that kind of thing and some people are slower, you know to To welcome his discipline yes and and Proverbs, you know, he says if you will turn to my discipline, I will teach you my words he makes promises to us and You know, it's kind of we can do this.
He's aware of the hard way Thing I remember when Dalton was little and there's nine years between Kendall and Dalton and Dalton's personality he can have some similarities, but they also have some differences and There was a time.
I don't remember any of the details of it, but I was disciplining Dalton for something and Afterwards He turned around and hugged me and I was hugging on him and all that and I remember Kendall Saying what in the world is wrong with him?
You know and she she said I Don't want to be hugging on you after you just got on he she would work it got me in trouble. I want to be hugging on you and But Dalton wanted to be back in right relationship, right, you know.
And that is kind of the difference in us. We can look at it and be angry with God because of the discipline that we just had to go through where he says you know a loving father will discipline their child and That he is a good father and then he disciplines those he loves and so We can look at that as a Good thing of okay.
Lord. I see I see what you're teaching me. I see the Danger of this in I confessed you I you know when David in Psalm 51 when he's Confessing his sin. He says I sinned against you and no one but you and Is really the bottom line is that even though there was Bathsheba there was her husband there were all the people that he had actually sinned against but ultimately our sin is Between us and the Lord and it is against him.
Now there there are People we need to make things right with don't get me wrong. But exactly but you are sending directly against God. And to go to him and to confess and to know he is a loving God who is just waiting For y 'all to be back in my relationship and you're just sitting there with your arms crossed.
Going. I don't want to hug you. I'll hug you. No, but we're in this state right now. We're sitting there. I don't want to hug you. No, we're talking about that bratty kid sitting on the floor. Mm-hmm.
Yeah, like another time when Kendall was little she's gonna love. I'm done. She said She was mad at me about something and I said well Kendall, you know. When we're angry with somebody we do not quit loving them.
You know, we're angry with them, but we haven't quit loving them and she said I don't love like that. Oh Snap. So that's condo, you know when I pictures us there with our arms crossed and You know I'm not giving this.
I'm not giving this to you. I'm gonna hold on to you. Well, you're miserable. Have you noticed that you're miserable? Yeah, because you could move on. Any minute whenever you feel froggy and ready to jump.
Anytime you're ready we could start every day. Like that his mercies are new every morning. Why in the world do we walk around for days? Dodging his mercy when he is so willing. Oh. That's my transgressions to the Lord and you you capital.
Mm-hmm. Took away the guilt of my sin. Man, Korea, that's really deep. And you guys are doing this. Oh, wow, you explained it so well because I don't remember anything I said. First John 1 Verse 9 it says if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us.
Our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we do we don't have any sin we make him a liar and his word is not in us. There you go, so he says That if you confess your sin, he is faithful and just forgive you of your sin and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
So why it's that simple so why in the world do we walk around with this description of us being so accurate where we feel like our bones are brittle and we're miserable and we're. We're unhappy and we're like literally it makes you physically sick.
Yes, it does and you can you start thinking I'm I'm suffering from clinical depression. Well in that case you're not suffering. I mean, I guess technically you probably are but it's as it's because. You are holding on to that sin.
With all your might trying to deal with it on your own. And you cannot do that. There's only one way. There's only one person and he says Come unto me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.
And he says confess your sin and I'm faithful and just to forgive you. Cleanse you from all unrighteousness. It's really easy Vicki. So, I don't know why you're making it so complicated. No, I can do it myself.
Have you been doing it? I Can't do nothing. Not without him. It's 704. Oh my boss. It takes no time.
Okay, get any more stories on.
Now that I can think of off the top of my head, but they're there well tell you what tell you what. If you think of one on your way home and you want to share You can always go live on our women's page and tell a story.
I mean, I've never thought of doing that you can. Anytime you want to share anything you can go live on a women's page. Okay, let's see if they have still story time with cream. If Anybody if any y 'all know Karina, you know, she's got good stories.
And there's always meaning behind them. You learn something from every story. She tells Eventually when it's like and what I'm saying. You can see that. I saw the little thumbs and I saw her little head.
My friend Jane is supposed to be on here and she's in Florida. So say hi to her. Hi. I hope you having a good time and Janine at work is supposed to be on here. Hey, Janine. That's Jennifer. Hi, Janine.

Are you really yes, I swap numbers and letters all the time. Okay. See so I'm here for you. Thank you. You're welcome. The Lord placed you in my life for a reason. Yes, not just to give you welcome. It's not obnoxious awesome and incredible and Excellent advice that you've given me in the many years past.
Well, I'm really blessed I got I was telling you before we started I'm so blessed just to be here. So and to be a part of this whole women's ministry that we have it's incredible. It's awesome. It's it's something that I've never experienced before in my life.
And I think that If anybody has a ministry in their church and that they're not active in it, I think they should be. If your women's ministry is not real active then get in it and get it active. Or if you're in Memphis and you do not have a church home, we would love to have you.
Yeah, come meet our women. Please. We're great. We are. We really are we are. Well Karina is no we are. So it's Vicki. They're all just fantastic. But also, we're not perfect. No. No. So that is helpful, right?
Right. We don't dress up. No, like you don't have to worry about that either. Just come on come as you are. This is what I wore to work today. That's why I look like this when I come to church. I have on a t-shirt.
I'll look like this pretty much. Do not wear dresses ever right now, I mean unless I'm forced to. Like rare occasion, it's very rare. Well, anyways, thanks you guys for coming tonight, I hope that you've enjoyed this.
I've had a blast. I knew I would. I was So excited you've had fun, too. I told I said, I think you're like Karina. Karina's pretty lovable. She's so sweet. So, um, yes, I'll come back. So we'll have her again but anyways I hope you all have gotten something from the study if you and if you have ever Looked at the scripture we went over if you've not I hope that you've gotten a better understanding or maybe you've looked at it or you've read it.
But you've never understood it in the way that it was presented tonight. I hope that it has helped you in some way or the other. I always pray that the Holy Spirit takes over this time and uses it for however, he sees fit and so.
That's my intention just about every day of my life now, so I Hope that you all have a wonderful evening and My advice tonight is if you have paper plates it off though, so you don't have to do dishes.
Fair enough. You like that one? Yes. Good solid advice you think so? Yes. Okay. Okay. I got it. Well, you know what? Actually, why don't you because my legs asleep. My phone is asleep. That would not be pretty so I don't want to see me doing it.
So thanks guys. This has been a wow moment.
