Daily Bites Of God's Word - Part 25 - Psalm 119:25

So welcome back today to God's Word. This is Andy Cain. It's a joy to be back with you once again. Today we're looking at Psalm 119, verse 24.

It says, your testimonies also are my delight. They are my counselors. They are literally the men of my counsel.

So if you think about a group of people, we think about pastors needing a good group of godly men to bring them wise counsel.

If you think about a group in your family or friends or some type of trusted board or trusted group of advisors or friends, this is what

David is saying, that the testimonies of the word of God are for him. They're his delight.

They are the, as he said in verse 16, when he said, I shall delight in your statutes,

I shall not forget your word. These are the delight of the psalmist, David. They should be the delight of the

Christian. We should delight in the word of God. We delight in the testimonies of the word of God, the command of the word of God, everything that God commands us to do, everything that we are to do.

We delight in it. We delight in knowing who God is, who we are, how we are saved, and it becomes the counselors.

This counsel, this meditation, this wisdom, everything that we need to know, we find in the word of God.

Now, this is not teaching that we would not seek out actual people to bring wise counsel.

We learn from pastors, Sunday school teachers, faithful people that have studied the word of God. But ultimately, those people, if what they're teaching you is worthwhile, it's because its foundation is found in the word of God.

And that's what's being said here is that the foundation for the delight of the psalmist is the testimonies that become the counsel for the wise life.

And that is what is in view here. So is the word of God that for you? Are you treating it as such?

Is it the wise counsel for you in your life? I trust that it is. It needs to be.
